Portrait recreation of James Stuart and I explain how the Jacobite Succession started with his life story. Simple History: James Stuart (1688-1766) Wanted the throne but could have it because he was Catholic. So his elder half sisters Princesses Mary & Anne got it instead, becoming Queen Mary of England and Queen Anne of England. He tried and tried but failed each time, eventually being exiled to Rome. There he set up his own court and peerage. The continent recognized it, but England did not. He had two sons, Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) and Cardinal Henry. Bonnie prince Charlie would continue the Jacobite Succession after James Stuart died in 1766. He had an unofficial reign of 65 years, the longest in British history before the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
