Two 0-60 runs in my 2014 Nissan Sentra to see if there is actually a noticeable difference in acceleration/performance with K&N filter versus the stock filter. The first run shows the acceleration with the stock air filter while the second run demonstrates the acceleration with a K&N high-flow air filter. Nothing else on the car is changed or modified. This Sentra is the SR trim and is powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder (MRA8DE) engine making 130 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 128 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm (assuming with the stock air filter). Obviously, this car has the PureDrive CVT. Also, both runs were done in "Sport" mode with the traction-control on (and nearly a full tank of gas on each run)... Both runs were recorded on February 4th, 2016 between 9:15-10:45 PM. The temperature was 29 degrees F for both runs (read 27 degrees on my iPhone, lol). Humidity for the first run was 75-76%; while the second run, the humidity was 79-80%. Differences I observed with the K&N air filter while compared to stock was quicker throttle response and the stock intake sounding louder and deeper. Also, initial pick-up seemed quicker as well. Personally, I've drove the car for over 200 miles now with the new air filter and noticed no change in gas mileage whatsoever (I'm not saying that's the case for all vehicles). My verdict: To each their own. I find the K&N air filter to be a good product mainly because it lasts longer than a regular OEM paper filter due to not having to throw them out after about 15-20 thousand miles. Yes, a K&N filter is more expensive, but in the LONG run (after about 100,000 miles or so), it can save the person money over continuously buying paper filters. Also, a performance and gas mileage increase is also possible, but then again, EVERY vehicle is different.
