Former Attorney General of India Soli Sorabjee termed the move to impeach Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra "ill-conceived". He said the opposition is doing "great harm" to the institution of an independent judiciary and its public perception. 71 lawmakers from seven opposition parties signed the petition to impeach Chief Justice Dipak Misra and submitted to Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
