Advocate Rakesh Kishore On Throwing Shoe At CJI A day after being suspended by the Bar Council of India for attempting to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai in a courtroom, senior lawyer Rakesh Kishor remained unapologetic and said that he has no regret for his actions. "A PIL was filed in the court of CJI on September 16. The CJI mocked it and said - go and pray to the idol and tell it to restore its own head. When Nupur Sharma's matter came up before the court, it said that she vitiated the atmosphere. When a matter related to our Sanatan Dharma comes up, the Supreme Court passes such orders," The unprecedented outburst unfolded in CJI Gavai's courtroom, when Kishore allegedly attempted to throw a shoe during proceedings. The Bar Council of India immediately suspended his licence, calling the act "a blot on the legal fraternity". CJI Gavai, however, remained composed and continued with the proceedings even after the attempted attack.
