Tank revving up, black smoke drifting across STORYLINE The Israeli army expanded its two-week-old offensive in northern the Gaza Strip, with tanks moving deeper into the town of Beit Lahiya. The offensive is designed to try to stop Palestinian rockets being fired at Israeli border towns, according to the Israeli government. Hospital officials said that three militants were killed and seven Palestinians were wounded in the latest fighting, including four children between the ages of 5 and 16. One of the militants was killed by a missile strike, and two by a tank shell, witnesses said.
