Chevy Silverado 5.3 MUST DO Maintenance (2007-2013) — 100k Mile Service Checklist You Can’t Ignore!

If you own a 2007-2013 Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra with the 5.3L LS-based Vortec engine (LC9 / LH6 / LMG) — THIS video will save you money and prevent common failures. This generation of 5.3 had AFM (Active Fuel Management), lifter issues, high oil consumption, and carbon buildup — so the 100,000-mile service is critical. In this video I break down the MOST IMPORTANT maintenance items that should be done at or before 100k miles: 100k Mile Silverado 5.3 Key Service Items: Engine oil + filter change every 3,000-5,000 — synthetic recommended to protect AFM lifters Spark plug & spark plug wire replacement (GM spec Iridium 41-110) Clean throttle body & MAF sensor Intake valve carbon cleaning (especially if AFM truck) Transmission service — full fluid exchange + filter (DON’T ignore!) Rear diff fluid service (75W-90 gear oil) Transfer case fluid change (AutoTrak II for 4×4) Cooling system flush — fresh DexCool Serpentine belt inspection/replacement PCV valve check Replace fuel filter (if not integrated) Check/replace motor mounts — VERY common failure on this year range Check for lifter tick / AFM problems early Why this matters: Neglecting these items is EXACTLY how these trucks end up with collapsed AFM lifters, oil consumption, slipping transmissions, and dead fuel pumps around 120k-160k. Doing this service before problems start keeps these LS engines running 300k+. If you found this helpful — hit LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and drop a comment with your mileage & year.
