It’s a 1 million dose milestone. Roughly seven weeks after the first coronavirus vaccine arrived in New Jersey, state health leaders say they've put 1,037,657 shots in arms. 813,216 residents have gotten at least one dose, and 224,237 people are fully immunized. The state is still a long way from the goal of inoculating more than 4.5 million eligible residents by the end of June. It didn’t take long for a strain first detected in the UK to spread across New Jersey. Another confirmed case was reported this weekend in the North Ward of Trenton. In total, there are 31 total cases of the variant found in 11 different counties. According to the Health Department, just three of the people had travel history, meaning everyone else caught it through community spread. The downward curve of new positive cases is encouraging. Monday, the state reported another 25 deaths and 2,218 new positive cases. If that number sounds low, it's because there was an electronic lab-reporting issue over the weekend that caused a backlog. Murphy says Tuesday's numbers should reflect the difference.
