Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is trying to cash in, literally, on the anti-Fauci hysteria on the Right. In a recent fundraising email, DeSantis took aim at Fauci and said that the doctor should be prosecuted for lying to Congress - something that fact checkers have confirmed never actually happened. But the facts don't matter for this crowd, and DeSantis is hoping to ride this lunacy all the way to the bank. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this. Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has added his name to the growing list of whackjob Republicans who want Anthony Fauci thrown in prison for allegedly lying to Congress. Now, as I explained in a video, I believe it was last week, perhaps it was the week before who knows with this crazy timeline we're living in. Either way, Anthony Fauci has been proven by fact checkers to have not lied to Congress during sworn testimony. The issue here is Republicans believe that Fauci lied about the funding that the NIH gave to the Wuhan lab for gain of function research. Fauci said, nope, we didn't do that and Fauci is correct. They gave money to an outside entity that was working in conjunction with the Wuhan lab, but there is no evidence whatsoever that this outside entity was actually engaged in active gain of function research that involved manipulating and alter, altering the DNA of viruses. There's no evidence of that. But evidence doesn't matter to these Republicans, especially not to people like Ron DeSantis. So DeSantis sends out an email last week, begging for money, of course, saying Anthony Fauci should be prosecuted for lying to Congress and thrown in jail. So he is literally trying to profit still off of the anti Fauci hysteria that seems to have captured far too many people on the right and let's be honest, plenty of people on the left as well. These individuals think that somehow Fauci is responsible for, for something. They don't quite know what. Is he, is he profiting off the vaccines? Nope. Is he profiting off the pandemic? No. Did he lie to Congress? No. He didn't do any of the things that y'all are claiming he did. And you're lucky he's not a litigious man otherwise he'd be suing each and every one of you for defamation, which honest to God I sincerely hope happens. I know Fauci is a little busy with the pandemic right now, but once all this kind of goes away, if it ever goes away, I think it might be time for him to start filing some slander and liable lawsuits against these individuals that have smeared him so tremendously throughout this entire pandemic. Fauci is not a hero, absolutely not. There are some questions that need to be answered. The guy was in charge for decades, received billions of dollars in federal funding, you know, on, on how to prevent the pandemics and okay, well you suck at your job. You didn't do that. So yeah, we need some answers about that. But is the guy corrupt? You know, is he somehow profiting off this? Is he enjoying any of this? No, he's not and it's stupid in my opinion to say otherwise. And stupid is the best word I can use to describe Ron DeSantis' efforts here. But not for him for his base. Ron DeSantis, as much as I despise the guy, as much as I hate his policies, he knows what he's doing. Because he's not an idiot, but his followers are. So he is trying to hoodwink them with this whole don't Fauci my Florida, which by the way, he's still selling that merch too. Literally again, profiting off the anti Fauci hysteria and his base doesn't seem to understand that. This is just a way for him to raise his money. This is just a campaign tactic. This is just a way to fleece the most gullible here in the state of Florida and you folks are falling for it, hook, line and sinker.
