#Zero-#COVID will continue at least until March next year | #Digging to #China | HD 1080p

Last Thursday, Chinese president Xi Jinping chaired the 25-member Politburo meeting to assess the economy. In the past, this high-profile meeting often called to meet China's full-year economic growth target, but instead, last Thursday's meeting urged to achieve the best possible results for the economy this year. State-run Xinhua news agency reported, In the second half of 2022, China should "stabilize employment and prices, maintain economic operations within a reasonable range, and strive to achieve the best possible results," It will be the first time since 2015 that China will miss its economic growth target which is around 5.5%. The culprit? Zero-Covid measures including mass test and full lockdowns. In the first half of this year, China's GDP grew only 2.5% after the economy slumped in the second quarter. It adds huge pressure in the second half given fears of a global recession, uncertainties from the Ukraine war and of course never ending COVID lockdown. On June 22, at the opening of a BRICS forum, President Xi said China would take more measures to achieve its annual economic goals while minimizing the impact of its COVID-19 prevention and control as much as possible. Just two days later, during an inspection tour in the central city of Wuhan, Xi said China will "strive to reach a relatively good level of the economic development this year". Last week, Premier Li Keqiang stroke the similar tone at the World Economic Forum, he said China will "strive for relatively good results in economic development for the whole year".
