BLONDIE BLOGS: Inspire yourself in MInd, Body & Sprit every day | Barbara Niven

Boy have we all been through a lot during this pandemic. We have lost so much, and it doesn't look like it's letting up any time soon, at least here in the USA. It's easy to get depressed and down and angry. I know, I've been right there with you. But what has really helped me is to remember that this will not go on forever. We will eventually get a vaccine, and our lives will return to some sort of normal again.... whatever that normal is going to look like. When I do come out the other side, I have decided that I want to feel stronger and better about myself than ever before. So I consciously look for ways to boost my mind, body and spirit every single day. I look for blessings, celebrate the miracles around me, ride my bike for adventure (body & spirit both!), learn from online videos, read, create, and find ways to set myself up for my future success. Please share what you are doing to handle the stress of Covid in your life. How are you counteracting the mental and physical "lows" of lockdown? Instead of just biding time and spiraling down, start doing good things for yourself and those who love you. We will all be changed by this experience, but you can decide now aif you want to be changed in a good or a negative way. It's your choice. For instance, it's easy to sit home and gain weight, because nobody is going to see us anyway, right? (Boy have I found chips that I like!) So if you've been comfort eating too, maybe this would be a good time to recommit to being good to yourself and your body. Start getting yourself strong and fit for when you re-emerge. Or counter your depression by getting off the couch to do something active... go outside and walk (with a mask and distancing), put some music on and do some crazy dancing in your living room (we've been doing that with my grandkids!), learn a new craft, watch a "how to" video on YouTube, or simpy do something kind for someone else. That's a great way to get out of doldrums! Consciously find ways to motivate yourself. Fill your living space (inside and out) with things that inspire and nurture you. Make your future self proud. Don't get caught not liking yourself when this pandemic is over. Because it WILL be over eventually. Think of yourself as a butterfly stuck in a weird cocoon time warp right now. Use this time to hone your skills, develop your mind, create good habits, reset your goals, and be ready to come out flying on the other side! Love ya, Barbara xo
