BROOKLYN: The Real Reasons This BIG3 DIDN'T WORK! Stunted Growth
With 2 former league MVPs that share 7 scoring titles and two championships for Kevin Durant, along with a championship point guard with ice truly in his veins and said to be the best ever at one of the most important attributes of a point guard, how then did the Brooklyn BIG 3 of James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant fail together? Since the 2019 all star game’s hallway flirt off in basketball form, you could see that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving had an interesting chemistry and was going to create a situation where they would end up together as they both head for free agency at season’s end. In those pre pandemic times, the world still loved Kyrie Irving as he was selected to his 3rd straight all star and things were still ok on a team in Boston and city he’d eventually fall out of grace with on his way to joining Kevin Durant. We were all excited. I’m sure I was, as although I am critical about Kyrie Irving from time to time, I do believe in his talent and on court mental make up to be one of the best in the game today. It was also good to see Kevin Durant take the route he did after winning 2 championships out west, but still not receive the respect of the basketball world for joining a 73 win team that just beat him in the playoffs months before in the worst way and even the lack of appreciation from his own front office. Then you saw the BROOKLYN BIG3 together and the sacrifice Kyrie and KD made to welcome Harden and understood this team could go all the way. Unfortunately as you know that didn’t happen and as of February 2022, that team is no longer. James Harden has been traded to the Sixers for Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant is hurt and Kyrie is playing half the games. What happened? Whose to blame? How couldn’t this work? Thank you for watching.
