Continuing a run of strong releases over the summer months, Bonzai Progressive welcomes Belgian music maestro Manu Riga back to the label with the superb Tainted Hope. Undoubtedly one of the most prolific artists in electronic music, Manu Riga remains relentless in his musical endeavours, always turning out quality vibes in original and remix formats. A work horse in the studio, he has formed many amazing partnerships over the years with outstanding results. Catch Manu Riga on stage, busting out some progressive grooves at this year’s edition of Legacy Festival in Zilvermeer, Mol. Tainted Hope opens the release, and right away you get locked in to the groove as deep, rumbling basses are caressed with delicate arpeggio melodies. A solid beat and flurries of rhythmic percussions keep the track moving as striking synths open up alongside a spoken narrative which adds intrigue to the sound. Seeing out the release we have, Living The Past, which offers a much deeper groove. The groove darkens as deep basses combine to form a chugging powerhouse that drives the track. Again, we see tight beats and solid percussions that get the hips swaying. The darker undertones are contrasted with bright melodies and with sharp retro acid stabs.
