Cash Stuffing $740 | Oct 18th thru Oct 26th

Welcome to BudgetsByAlex! I am a 33-year-old, living in Portland, OR with my husband and our 2 kitties, Echo & Harrow. I am on a journey to become debt-free and one day retire early. My journey and method may look different than yours, but that is the beauty of finance/budgeting - it is personal and unique to everyone :) I began my journey using both real cash and prop money and very recently switched to only prop money. I started off using real cash for my variable envelopes, but found it was too much work to go to the bank every week - most places in Portland no longer accept cash either. I keep my variable cash envelopes on me, so I know how much I have left in those categories when I use my credit/debit card for a purchase. It also didn’t feel safe having so much cash at home for my bills/sinking funds and I gain a good chunk of interest in the bank - free money! I am paid twice a month, but I budget everything in 4’s & stuff 4 times a month to stick to my weekly budget for my categories & make sure my bills are paid. If I do spend something from a sinking fund, I pay myself back with my Ally act. You can see me transfer money from my checking act into my Ally buckets at the end of every video to “stuff” those categories electronically. Doing it this way, works for me & having the visual cash reminder has helped me budget and spend less! Happy Budgeting and I hope starting my journey helps you begin your own.
