On Sunday, Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote another letter to all states and union territories with updated guidelines in light of the new Covid variant, Omicron. As per the letter, the following steps are to be taken: rigorous surveillance of international passengers, enhanced testing, monitoring of hotspots, ensuring prompt dispatch of samples for genome sequencing and augmenting health infrastructure.
