Lawyer for El Chapo says he needs more time to review trial documents

Joaquin Guzman 'El Chapo' Loera will in Brooklyn federal court on Monday for jury selection. Potential witnesses are said to be in danger as Guzman's sons Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar still run the notorious Sinaloa cartel and could seek retribution. 'There is no doubt that the defendant and his cartel have the capability, the resources and the will to harm cooperating witnesses and their families, even after they have been relocated,' Federal Judge Brian Cogan was warned. Guzman has been in solitary confinement in New York since January 2017 but will appear in court this week.
