By Jessica De Nova/KTVL.comMEDFORD, Ore.-Medford Police said there is a serial arsonist in the Southwest part of town, lighting vacant homes on fire.A fire Friday morning on Stewart Avenue was the eighth home in the spree in the past year.Police said the inside of the home was heavily damaged by the flames.Investigators believe the suspect lives in the area because most of the fires this month have been in Southwest Medford neighborhoods. Police said though every home has been empty, the fires are still a threat to public safety. Our concern is that he's going to continue to do this behavior, he's going to continue to risk the lives of residents around where he starts these fires, as well as the first responders that gotta respond to these fires, said Lt. Mike Budreau with Medford Police Department.Lt. Budreau said arsonists like watching their work, increasing the chance of someone spotting the suspect.Budreau said the fires have been lit at night. If you notice anything suspicious, contact Medford Police.
