Much will depend on their diet as a chick. When buying zebra seed mix they are more likely to prefer small seeds. This should be made up of millet and canary seed. It's good to add some cuttings of green seeding grasses. It's important, that zebra finches always have food available. If they happen to get fat, then they need more exercise, not less food.
