Starbucks Living Wall at Downtown Disney, Anaheim - Project of the Week 7/7/14

** Correction on the voice over** ...Measuring 15 ft H x 22 ft L, 78 VGM modules were shipped to the job site already grown-in, planted in a 4 in. soil... Since 1971, Starbucks Coffee Company has been committed to ethically sourcing and roasting high-quality Arabica coffee. Today, with stores around the globe, the company is a premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world. Starbucks wanted something particularly eye-catching and unique for its new 5,600 sf LEED-certified indoor / outdoor store in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Based on its Green Store model, it opened in April of this year. This first-of-its-kind Starbucks experience engages guests through its 150-seat restaurant with sustainable materials, a 10-foot, nine-panel LED screen, an interactive touch screen which encourages guests to sketch their own artwork, the outdoor patio built around an old Ficus tree, and the outdoor Tournesol Siteworks' green wall designed with 1,000 native plants in the shape of a coffee cup. At the heart of their VGM living wall product is a recycled plastic planting module attached to stainless steel hanging rods. Measuring 15 ft H x 22 ft L, 78 VGM modules were shipped to the job site already grown-in, planted in a 4 in. soil profile with Isotoma, reverse spider plant, Senecia serpens, and dwarf mondo grass with pre-assembled irrigation emitters and tubing in the modules. Over the next year, Starbucks and Disney will bring five more Starbucks locations their parks' guests.
