She explained that they were being manipulated by Abstergo to sift through memories to find a Sage, following which she asked them to experience an unsequenced set of Arno Dorian's memories as an introduction to the Assassins and Templars. In the later 1700s, Arno witnesses the murder of the father of her childhood friend, Elise de le Serre. This, combined with Arno's Isu ancestry giving him 'eagle vision', kickstarts his journey joining the Assassin Brotherhood and avenging Elise's father's death.
