The :PER: trilogy was filmed in the heart of the Lea Valley marshes in East London, one of the last remaining examples of London’s once vast and widespread floodplain grasslands. Exploring these marshes over the last few years, I've come to believe that these ancient terrain are a hidden, almost spiritual place, an island of natural beauty in an urban landscape. A place of sunken hollows and melancholy pools, containing the spirits of lost memories and forgotten souls. Whispered conversations drifting between the blowing reeds. Leaves as fingertips dare to touch, communicating stories through the years. :Permeate: 'I felt a presence within the frame. An all pervading spirit of earth and sky. A perfect distilled moment, suspended in the half-light' :Perfuse: 'In the shroud of twilight's somber embrace, where the light lingers and time surrenders to the soft caress of evening's gentle breath, there exists a tranquil haven where marsh reeds sway in a dance of solitude. Their slender forms, like graceful lovers entwined in a silent embrace, move with a murmuring motion that exudes the ache of yearning. Amidst this symphony of tranquility, each reed becomes a vessel of breathless serenity, a whispered secret shared between earth and sky.' :Pervade: ‘The low winter sun imparts its radiance through a veil of fog and bequeaths an otherworldly quality, reminiscent of mythological realms where the boundaries between the mortal and divine are shrouded in mist’. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Since Saxon times onwards and well into the 20th century the marsh was used as Lammas Land, a place where local people could cut hay and graze their livestock. The marshlands are regionally important for its variety of semi-natural wetland habitats with over 400 plant species. Many of these wild plants have adapted to the seasonal flooding conditions experienced on site. Nothing new has been planted here and the site has never been ploughed or fertilised. Nearly all plant life that grows does so from the existing seed bank in the soils. Adder’s-tongue Fern is one species of plant which grows here between April and August and is often an indicator of ancient grasslands. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This trilogy is an collaboration between @diz_qo and @thewitchingtale @diz_qo is a multi disciplinary artist, creating experimental film, kinetic art, projection installation, sound design, photography, & mixed media 2D work.
