The rivalry between Electrics and Diesel locomotives has been a hot commodity among the railfanning fraternity since time immemorial. This rivalry is something more intenser than The Rock v/s Stone Cold Steve Austin and more personal than BJP vs Congress :D Here in this video, there is no such rivalry but a moment when the two titans get an opportunity to display it's aggression... one hauled by a beast of electric locomotives ie. WAP-7 and another a powerful diesel workhorse in the name of WDM-3D. Both have their own charm , their own aggression and their own ruthlessness. Crossings in Allahabad division of NCR are always pleasure to the eyes, but a crossing of Diesel and Electric loco is something which never fails to mesmerize a railfan nor does it fail to give goosebumps to the railfan fraternity. A same scenario was witnessed by me at Ajaibpur station when i was on a Railfanning excursion on a cloudy yet windy evening. After back to back hammering from the Rajdhani gang which started from Dibrugarh Rajdhani.. the time for final two showstopper drew near... Closely chasing the ER's phenom was the Phenom from ECOR ie. 20818 Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani (via Sambalpur) , the BBS Rajdhani led by the customary WAP-7 was given the signal just minutes after the Howrah "Hurricane" Rajdhani belted past at 120 + km/hr speed..!! Just as the signal was made for the Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani and as the white beast made it's way towards Ajaibpur across the horizon.. simultaneously at the same time the signal was made on the tracks towards the Delhi end. As the only train which was slated to pass at that time was the 14151 Kanpur-Anand Vihar Terminus Express so it was no suckerpunch to us as we readied our camera's to capture the clash of the two powerhouse locomotives serving the Indian Railways. First came the bolt of lightening bound to Bhubaneshwar... GZB WAP-7 led 20818 BBS Rajdhani like an arrow speared past the small iron bridge at the outer of the Ajabpur station in full ferocity...!! The iron bridge was left rattled by the speeding BBS Rajdhani who despite getting a double yellow at the Ajaibpur station blazed past us in no time. Just as the Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani did the clean sweep of the Ajaibpur's LC incame the lone express train of the evening slot bound to Delhi. Led by the LKO's powerhouse WDM-3D the 14151 Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar Term. Express first exchanged pleasantries with the speeding Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani and then unleashed hell with it's ear shattering honking and after raising a huge cloud of dust on the LC , the WDM-3D led 14151 CNB-ANVT Express belted past the iron bridge at 105+ km/hr speed..!! It was a magnificent sight which was accomplished with equally fantastic settings... the twilight hour... the lush greenery catapulted by the passing monsoon and the GZB WAP-7 led 20818 BBS Rajdhani and the Alco ie. WDM-3D hauled 14151 Kanpur-Anand Vihar express train crossing each other that too at their respective full speed.. what more a railfan could have asked for..!! A perfect treat not only to my eyes but also for my speed appetite which is always hungry for more. :D
