In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Peach is kidnapped by Bowser Jr. and his seven siblings, who also caused trouble in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. To rescue her, Mario travels through eight worlds, each with about eight to ten levels. Each world contains a castle and a palace. At the end of each castle or palace level, there is a final boss. After completing the first simple playthrough, a ninth world is unlocked, where a bonus level can be completed per world if the player has collected all the gold star coins in that world.
