The Stranglers Guildford 19/11/78 Part 1

A `triumphant' homecoming for The Stranglers as they visit their local University in Guildford for a TV recording. Trying to get under the radar here, but it was a programme by the UK's national TV station where they filmed university gigs for broadcast. The National Union Of Students had agreed to The Stranglers request that non university types would be admitted as well and then reneged on the deal. What you see here is the pre-broadcast warm up before the programme itself went live (this the complete footage as filmed, taken from the BBC tape). You'll see the clock at 11.10 which signifies the start of the on air broadcast, and the inaccurate intro by Pete Drummond (`Hanging Around' was on `Rattus Norvegicus' wasn't it ?) Anyway, be sure to watch Part 2...and to all those Stranglers fans who have been waiting forever to see this to the bitter end....glad to be of service. Those were the days when bands didn't kiss arse just to be on TV.
