I got some gorgeous soft and silky baby alpaca/silk blended yarn, so I decided to kettle dye it with chartreuse fiber reactive dye. I've dyed with chartreuse before but never just on it's own. I've never been completely sure what colour this is because it breaks beautifully on Aida. While in powder form, it's a bright yellow but when it's in a concentrated liquid, it's a beautiful green. So you can see, it's tricky to know what this colour actually looks like! This is why I decided to kettle dye with this colour. After heat setting the dye on the stove, I transferred the yarn and dye bath to a plastic container, let it cool, then put it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes in 30 seconds increments. This was just to help give it a bit of extra help to set the dye. Featured in this tutorial: Yarn: 10g 70% baby alpaca, 30% silk Dye: Chartreuse fiber reactive dyes from Dharma Trading .
