Lanna Coffee - Our Story

Lanna Coffee was founded with the idea that business should pursue more than simply just profit for us we try to address the issue of poverty specifically in the area of the hill tribes of northern Thailand you see a lot of these areas are very economically disadvantaged they're cut off from global trade and as a result these communities live in extreme poverty traditionally a lot of these communities grew things like corn or tomatoes things that didn't command a really big price point on the world stage and then we came to coffee coffee's something that's consumed many times a day by people here in the U.S. and so the conversation became what if we could plant coffee in these villages we would then purchase that coffee import it into the U.S. roast it sell it to consumers here giving the farmers the ability to take pride in their work and to generate their own income which would thus help improve the conditions in those regions i think a lot of people realize there are a lot of problems in our communities and we see those very visibly on television on social media and i think people are well intentioned and they want to tackle some of those issues but may not understand how and so what we want to be able to do is almost mobilize some folks to be able to tackle poverty in Thailand and provide a really easy way to do that which is simply drinking a cup of coffee in the morning.
