[ People of God - Those Who Walked with Jesus 5 ] Title: Unknown Missionaries Text: Matthew 1:18-25 18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19. But Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, did not want to make her a public woman; instead, he intended to divorce her quietly. 20. But while he was considering this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21. She will give birth to a son, and you are to call his name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 22. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: 23. “Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel,” which means, “God with us.” 24. But Joseph was asleep. He arose and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him. He took his wife, 25 but had no intercourse with her until she gave birth to a son. He named him Jesus.
