http://www.shure.com/wwb Hey this is Sam from Shure. In this video tutorial, we’ll discuss how to apply a large number of properties changes to one or more devices quickly from the inventory view of Wireless Workbench 6. In the Batch Edits tutorial, we covered how to select a number of devices or channels in the inventory, and use the item properties to change or one or more properties specifically. But in cases where you have large number of devices you want to send the same set of properties changes to over and over again, like when a rental house sends out gear for a production and gets them back and wants to return them to a default configuration. This can be tedious to make the same changes property by property over and over again. For this reason, we introduced Presets. Presets is a tool in the item properties side bar that allows users to save property and value pairs together in a file that can quickly be applied. Let me show you what I mean. Let’s say all of these devices just came back from a production back to the rental house warehouse, and I want to set them back to a known configuration. I can build a preset that has a number of properties, all of which set the device back to a known state so that it can be sent out again. I’ll show you how it works and then we’ll dig into the configuration of a preset. By selecting one of these presets, this one has ten properties I can see by that number there. Any of the properties that are configured in this preset are applied to the item properties sidebar. Expanding these drawers with the asterisk shows any property that’s been changed by this preset, in this case transmission mode, an encryption had been changed, as well as a number of other properties including all the IR presets for each receiver. By quickly pressing apply, I can send that preset to all of these channels. You’ll notice the channel name changed just to let me know that the device has been configured, that something I put in there myself. In order to build a preset I can do one of two things. If I already like the settings that are applied to a particular channel, I can actually create a preset with all of the properties from that particular channel by basically copying them from this item properties sidebar into a preset file. To do that, select the channel you want to copy and then this gear in the presets menu. Selecting “save presets” shows me a menu where I can name this preset. I’ll give it a name and press “save”, and my rental house main preset, is saved with 23 properties in there. Instead, if I wanted to create one from scratch, I would select this gear and go to configure presets. Alternatively, I can access this menu from the tools menu for preset configuration. This dialogue shows me all the presets I have already and allows me to create new ones. To create a new one, select plus and choose the model or device you want to create a preset for. Because different devices have different properties, you can pick one of these presets and get an extended list of properties. Or if you wanted to apply a preset to different groups of devices or multiple types devices at once, choose universal preset. If I choose Axient Digital, I can name the preset and then with it selected, see a list of all the properties I want to include in this this preset. To include a property, simple check the box and add the value you’d like to apply. Checking a property will ensure that when the preset is applied this property will be sent to those devices. Leaving a property unchecked means that whichever value the device already has, it will just keep that value there. Once saved, all of the properties that you configured in that preset will be accessible from the presets dialogue. I hope this tutorial was helpful.
