The Little Flower’s Secret to Holiness | St. Thérèse of Lisieux | Be Little on This Earth
Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux (St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus), one of the greatest Carmelite saints and Doctors of the Church. Known as “The Little Flower,” her Little Way of humility, love, and childlike trust in God has inspired millions of faithful around the world. Born in 1873 to Sts. Louis and Zélie Martin, Thérèse entered the Carmel of Lisieux at just 15 years old, living a hidden life of prayer, sacrifice, and love. Despite her fragile health, spiritual trials, and eventual death from tuberculosis at only 24, she left behind a legacy of holiness through her autobiography “Story of a Soul.” In this homily, we reflect on: Her saintly upbringing and family life. Her call to Carmel at a young age. The “Christmas grace” that transformed her spiritual maturity. The Little Way of offering small acts of love to God. Her heroic suffering with peace and joy until her holy death.
