I bought a 40yo truck camper to live in - 1986 Bigfoot C8

just picked up a 1986 Bigfoot C8 truck camper and dropped it onto my 2000 F350 7.3 Powerstroke — and in this video, I’m giving you the first look. This camper’s been around a while, but that old-school Canadian fiberglass build is what drew me in. The C8 is an 8-foot cabover that weighs about 950 pounds dry — super lightweight for a hard shell — and it’s surprisingly spacious inside considering how compact it is. No wet bath or anything fancy, just a basic layout with a bed up top, a small dinette, stove, sink, and fridge. Pretty much everything I need, and nothing I don’t. Right now, I’m not totally sure what direction I’ll take this build. I might gut the interior and redo it from scratch, or I might just fix what needs fixing and run it as-is for the season. But one way or another, this camper is going to be home for the summer as I head north through Northern BC, the Yukon, and Alaska. It’s got some soft spots, needs resealing, and definitely isn’t perfect — but that’s part of the fun. I’ve lived out of trucks long enough to know that comfort doesn’t have to come from perfection. This setup is about function, simplicity, and being able to go deep into the backroads and stay there for a while.
