Pen Spinning Fingercross Notation

Pen Spinning Fingercross Notation

Finger Cross notation is a notation used to specify crossings of the finger and the order of how they are oriented. The notation is written in between brackets and the brackets apply to the slot it is next to. We can write "fingercross", or much more simply just "fc" followed by the fingers we want to show crossing. There are three main types of fingercrosses. The most common and first type invented around 2008 is X type fingercross. Then there is O type fingercrosses X fingercross Once we have the [fc] written, we can write the finger that is above the other when looking at it palm up. The notation stays the same no matter the hand orientation. So a complete notation could look like this [fc 21] meaning the middle finger (2) is above the index finger (1). O fingercross We start with the [fc] in the brackets then we want to see which finger is outside of the other. Meaning in an O type fingercross there has to be a finger over another to make an O shape. To notate the "outside of" part, that is signified by an angeled bracket which is like an arrow pointing to the right (I cannot write it in YouTube descriptions). We also need to know the faces of the finger to be able to write O type fingercross. These are p for palmer side and b for dorsal side, or you could remember it easily by p for palm and b for back. Half Fingercross Half fingercrosses are when the fingers do not completely cross over when making a normal X fingercross, but they are still very closely related to X fingercrosses. Half fingercrosses are also the only one of the three where you have to specify the difference in notation before writing the slots. For example, you could say [half fc 12] or just [12] when there is nothing else in the brackets. These are commonly used for notating wipers because of the slight overlap in fingers when doing wipers.
