For the all-electric versions of the PEUGEOT 208 and PEUGEOT 2008, the latest technological developments will enable up to 22 kilometers more range in the WLTP cycle starting in early 2022, and even more in everyday driving. That's great news, isn't it? Peugeot e-208 gets more range! 22 kilometers more range for all models ordered from 2022 onwards, because this improvement isn't simply delivered via an over-the-air update; it requires actual modifications and reconfiguration. In other words, retrofitting is only possible to a limited extent. Based on the e-CMP platform, equipped with a 50 kWh battery, a 100 kW electric motor (136 hp), and 260 Nm of torque, both the Peugeot e-208 and the e-2008 are perfectly suited for everyday use. For most electric vehicle owners who aren't charging experts at public charging stations and aren't exactly marathon runners when it comes to range, this is of secondary importance, especially since they always charge their vehicles at home. However, for newly ordered vehicles from 2022 onwards, there is now a bit more range available, specifically up to 22,000 meters, or 22 kilometers. This sounds easily achievable, but it required a significant upgrade. Better tires = more range! First, the tires were optimized by switching to the A+ rating. Lower rolling resistance should now ensure greater efficiency. This applies to the 16-inch alloy wheels for the PEUGEOT e-208 and the 17-inch alloy wheels for the PEUGEOT e-2008, and any electric vehicle owner can do the same. Opt for these fuel-efficient tires: lower rolling resistance = lower consumption = more range. Those who also ensure their tire pressure isn't too low can gain a few extra kilometers, and probably even more in city driving. New gear ratios ensure lower consumption! But simply changing tires won't add 22 kilometers to the range. Peugeot has also made further developments in the mechanical aspects and is now relying on a new gear ratio designed to optimize range, especially on country roads, but also on the highway. This feature probably can't be retrofitted easily, given that 90,000 Peugeot e-208 and e-2008 models are already on the road, and the next step can't be implemented as an update either: New heat pump for the Peugeot e-208 and e-2008! The Peugeot e-208 and the Peugeot e-2008 are getting a new heat pump! In conjunction with a humidity sensor mounted at the top of the windshield, the new heat pump is designed to optimize the energy efficiency of the heating and air conditioning systems, and we know there's considerable potential here to reduce consumption and increase range. But how does the new Peugeot e-208 heat pump work? The information transmitted by the sensor allows for more precise control of the air circulation in the cabin. This conserves battery energy during heating and ensures a consistent temperature inside the vehicle. This improvement is particularly noticeable at low outside temperatures. In urban areas, all these improvements are expected to result in an increase in range of up to 40 kilometers at 0°C. 2022 Peugeot e-208 Range / 2022 Peugeot e-2008 Range If you add up all the additional kilometers, the Peugeot e-208 will soon achieve a range of 362 kilometers according to WLTP, while the Peugeot e-2008 is expected to reach 342 kilometers. In the city, and certainly even more so in warmer temperatures, we have another tip for you: If you tidy up your car, don't carry too much weight, and drive with a light foot, you can squeeze out a few extra kilometers. This was true for fossil fuel-powered vehicles and still holds true for electric vehicles. What do you think of this upgrade? Do you drive more energy-efficiently, or do you sometimes go full throttle?
