J.S. Bach ~ Prelude & Fugue XIX in A Major, Book II BWV 888

J.S. Bach ~ Prelude & Fugue XIX in A Major, Book II BWV 888

Christopher O'Riley's recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's late masterwork, his Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II will be released by PARMA/Navona on all platforms August 15. The recording was engineered and produced by Samuel Jones and performed on a Bösendorfer grand. These video performances were played on a Casio keyboard accessing through the Pianoteq system a morphed stack of modern concert grands: Bechstein, Hamburg Steinway & Bösendorfer. For these latest one-take videos I've striven to emulate Sam Jones' microphone placement, particularly with the very close-mic'd pair. I've also dialed up a bit more hammer noise, and dialed DOWN the Direct Sound Duration, which at 1.00 sounds artificial, though signal-heavy for digital users. I dialed down the historic grands and early fortepianos down to 0.81. I've now readjusted even my modern/morphed FrankenSteinway (the Bechstein & Hamburg Steinway morphed stacked on top of Pianoteq's latest Bósendorfer. Keepin it 'real'.
