U.S. House votes towards putting N. Korea back on terror sponsor list

美하원, 北 테러지원국 재지정 법안•ICBM 규탄 결의안 의결 The U.S. House of Representatives has overwhelmingly voted in favor of approving legislation aimed at re-designating North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism. The bill was passed on Monday in a three-hundred-ninety-eight to three vote. Another resolution condemning the regime's nuclear weapons development was passed 394 to one. The State Department now has 90 days to review whether North Korea meets the criteria as a terror sponsor. North Korea was previously on the list, after the bombing of a Korean Air flight in 1987, but was taken off in 2008 by the George W. Bush administration in exchange for denuclearization talks. Seoul's foreign ministry has welcomed the move, saying it reflects the Congress' deep bipartisan support towards this issue and sends a strong message before the U.S.-China summit later this week.
