World of Warships - Quick Cut: Tier VI American Submarine USS Cachalot

With a game in submarine U-69 under my belt, I decide to go for a spin in her Tier VI American counterpart, USS Cachalot. I'm honestly not quite sure what to make of this boat, which has a higher surface detection than many destroyers in her tier. My chat tries to tell me that the US boats are "knife fighters", but how do you do that with a ship that handles this badly? I dunno, I'm still not getting the point of this class.
