ICE-T defends controversial decision to change 'Cop Killer' song lyrics to 'ICE Killer'

Rapper and actor ‘ICE-T’ has defended his decision to change the lyrics of his 1992 song ‘Cop Killer’ to ‘ICE Killer’ in protest of federal immigration enforcement. The rapper’s defence came during an appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club’, where he spoke about the lyric change during a show last year. The show in which the lyric change occurred during a July 2024 show in Los Angeles, as federal immigration enforcement heightened in the state. The ‘Law & Order’ actor revealed the lyric change was a form of protest, but admitted any violence against law enforcement could escalate tensions. “ICE was active out there. So, it’s like, I’m in the midst of ICE raids and stuff like that, and I’m in front of an LA audience, and it just came out. I didn’t know I was [going to] do it,” the rapper said.
