Speaking during a discussion on a potential war scenario, Basit said that if the US were to attack Pakistan, Islamabad might respond by striking New Delhi and Mumbai. He described the situation as a “worst-case scenario,” but his comments have drawn sharp reactions online. Basit made the remarks in response to concerns raised in the US Annual Threat Assessment, where American intelligence officials flagged Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missile programme as a potential risk.
