The Witcher 3 is a Role playing game in a 3rd person perspective and tells the story of Geralt of Rivia, the Witcher, as he sets out to destroy the Wild Hunt once and for all. This is the third and the final installment of the Legendary trilogy based on The Witcher series of fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Other locations that appear in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, including the free city of Novigrad, the Redanian city of Oxenfurt, the no man's land of Velen, the city of Vizima, the Skellige islands and the witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 19 May 2015. It received numerous Game of the Year awards, and has been cited as one of the greatest video games of all time. The game was also a commercial success, shipping nearly ten million copies by March 2016. Two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, were also released to critical acclaim. A Game of the Year edition, with the base game, expansions and all downloadable content, was released in August 2016.
