Enhancing MediShield to MediShield Life

At a REACH dialogue on healthcare, Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong points out that 8% of Singaporeans are not covered under the current MediShield. He also mentions that increasingly more people may opt out of MediShield, especially the younger generation who may not see an immediate need for insurance coverage. He explains that if everyone only wants to be part of MediShield when they are old and sick, the concept of insurance would break down. He urges Singaporeans to stay on with MediShield and eventually MediShield Life to support those who are sick and to get support when we are not doing too well ourselves.
