Mark 1:9-13, "The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus"

We have seen the introduction of the forerunner of the Messiah, John the Baptist. He appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Now we see Jesus coming as that Messiah, the Anointed One of God. He comes to John and is baptized by him at the Jordan River. Why did the sinless one submit to a baptism for sinners? We will answer that question today.
