BELGIUM: MILITARY CHIEF CLARK BRIEFS AMBASSADORS AT NATO HQ

(21 Oct 1998) English/Nat NATO's supreme commander, General Wesley Clark has returned from Serbia, having warned the Yugoslav president that he's still not doing enough to comply with the terms of the October 12 agreement. Clark told Slobodan Milosevic he has until Tuesday to withdraw all the special police units sent to Kosovo in February when he attacked ethnic Albanian separatists of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Clark has attended a meeting at NATO's headquarters in Brussels. NATO military chief, General Wesley Clark arrived at the organisation's Brussels headquarters on Wednesday morning for a meeting with ambassadors to discuss the crisis in Kosovo. Clark was to brief ambassadors about his trip to Belgrade on Tuesday, where he warned Milosevic that full compliance with an October 12th agreement reached with U-S envoy Richard Holbrooke, was necessary to avert the strikes. On his way into the meeting, Clark refused to answer reporters' questions about Milosevic. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I'm not going to discuss any of the particulars now, I'm sorry."
