Barrell Bourbon Batch 34 & 3 Private Releases

Barrell Bourbon Batch 34 & 3 Private Releases

After enjoying and reviewing the Barrell Bourbon (Batch 33) a few months ago, I decided to pick up the new Batch 34 to see how it was. As luck would have it, I was in the right place and time to get offered to taste 3 other “Private Release” whiskeys from Barrell Craft Sprits. So today I’ll be reviewing all 4 releases. Barrell Bourbon Batch 34 is a 114.62 proof blend of 6, 8, 10, and 15-year-old straight bourbon whiskeys from Kentucky, Indiana (MGP), and Tennessee. MSRP $90 Barrel Bourbon “Private Release Blend # GXA1 is a 119.94 proof blend of 75% 5 year, 15% 7 year, 5% 9 year, and 5% 14 year straight bourbon whiskeys from Kentucky, Indiana (MGP), and Tennessee. MSRP $110 Barrell Whiskey “Private Release Blend DKX2 Ruby Port Barrel” is a 123.9 proof blend of Indiana and Kentucky Whiskeys that were finished in a Ruby Port Barrel. MSRP $110 Barrell Whiskey “Private Release Blend DJA2 St. Agrestis Brooklyn Amaro Cask” is a 123.2 proof blend of Indiana and Kentucky Whiskeys that were finished in a St. Agrestis Brooklyn Amaro Cask. Fyi, that Amaro cask begins as an ex-bourbon barrel that they age their Amaro in. Their Amaro is a tincture blend of twenty herbs, spices, flowers, roots, seeds and citrus that are individually macerated in cane distillate and then aged for sixteen weeks as a method to allow the flavors to integrate with each other while picking up hints of toasted vanilla from the oak. Hopefully, my tasting notes on these can help you decide if any should be on your radar. As of April 2023, my current bottle count is over 2,600. I am a Certified Specialist of Spirits and have also been accredited by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). I've been actively collecting for more than two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help and understanding of my wonderful wife) into this collection and career. Speaking of my career, my “Saints Alley" Bourbons & Rye whiskeys are on Total Wine shelves and customers are really enjoying them (be sure to ask for a sample when you're in the stores)! Currently, our two new Special Editions are almost gone. But don’t worry, we just created Batch 2’s of both! Our "Nobleman" Rye Whiskey was aged in Hungarian Tokaji (pronounced Tok-eye) sweet wine casks! The other is a twist on our "Herald" Bourbon that adds Pineau Des Charentes casks to the mix. All are delicious, and given my knowledge and high standards, you know I’m working hard with my team to continue releasing whiskeys that we're proud of! Thanks for watching and please remember to drink responsibly. Cheers!
