Back in 2003 Denmark played Iran in an international friendly match in Hong Kong. In the last moments of the first half, Iran's Alireza Nikbakht Vahdi thought he heard the whistle. He promptly picked up the ball in his box, only to discover that the whistle had come from the crowd rather than the referee! Referee Albert Chiu Sin Chuen had no choice but to award a penalty, but after consulting with coach Olsen, Wieghorst demonstrated his sportsmanship by deliberately missing the spot-kick - a decision which helped #Iran to earn a 1-0 win. After the game, the Iran Football Federation (IRIFF) wrote to FIFA thanking the Danes for their sportsmanship. "The Danes didn't win the match, but they earned our admiration." - IRIFF MUSIC: HEROBOARD
