Small Arms Training, Pamphlet No. 10, Range-Finder No. 12, 1942: The fourth lecture from the range-finder training series where we take some raw recruits and put them through the course to become rangetakers. This is a genuine learning experience for all and you get to watch it as a fly-on-the-wall. 'Making coincidence' is the key skill in taking a range. It's about lining up an object in the two windows and using that to judge the range. This was from the first outdoor training session so there is a lot of wind noise. As our support increases, we will invest in suitable audio equipment. These series will hopefully develop into different types of training (including the likes of the Bren light machine gun, the bayonet and the rifle) eventually culminating with the full Vickers machine gun training series.
