Self-care Is Necessary For Recovery

This is a clip from a LIVE Meeting from my 6 Week Rapid Recovery Group where I confronted a member that was holding back from self care - which was holding back her recovery. Do you feel like activities for fun, relaxation or de-stressing are a waste of time? Do you feel guilty taking time for a long bath, a fun hobby, or to go out and pursue some fun? Does changing your diet sound reasonable, but you resist adding self care activities for your mental health? Then self care is for YOU! If you are stressed, tired, and spending your whole day focusing on others or work, then you NEED scheduled time just for you to relax and let go of stress, time to feel GOOD, time spent that is not productive except that it feels good to you! The people who need it the most usually avoid it - and if that's you, it's time to change that so you can get healthy and HAPPY and have a much higher quality of life. In my Rapid Recovery Group, it's often the first time people have EVER thought about and scheduled this kind of self care time and it's not a coincidence that they are sick, tired, and depressed or anxious. Learning great self care creates wonderful moods, and faster recovery. A win all around. IF you are working on your health alone, schedule your self care time every day!
