Collin's love for vintage 4x4s spans from early Ford Broncos to classic K5 Blazers and the elusive International Harvester Scout. The Scout II, in particular, piqued his interest for its rarity and timeless design. At the start of 2023, Collin's friend offered to sell his 1975 International Scout II, giving Collin the first opportunity to buy it. With an eagerness to restore it, Collin turned to Matt Thompson from 3D Off-Road to assess the Scout's potential for a resto-mod project. Matt gave the green light, and the project began. In this episode of Built2Wander, Collin and Matt introduce their latest project: the Scout. They discuss their criteria for selecting it as a project vehicle and share the initial improvements made to make it roadworthy. They also hint at their plans for a complete frame-off restoration, including a modern drivability upgrade with a fuel-injected V8, aftermarket axles, and a more comfortable suspension. 00:00 Introducing the 1975 Scout II 00:44 Intro with Collin 01:32 Vintage 4x4 Dreams 02:35 What to Look For When Buying A Classic Vehicle 05:53 Getting The Scout On The Road Again 07:05 Resto-Mod Plans 09:21 Outro with Collin & Matt Join us as we embark on the journey of revitalizing this International Harvester Scout and restoring it to its former glory.
