Ghazal: Jinhain Main Dhoondta Tha Asmanon Mein Zameenon Mein | Without Tashreeh Book: Bang-e-Dra 58 By : Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal Same Poem With Tashreeh LINK : • Jinhain Main Dhoondta Tha Asmanon Mein Zam... Jinhen Main Dhondta Tha Asmanon Mein Zameenon Mein This sonnet is taken from Bang-e-Dara (No 58). This is so splendid sonnet in which Iqbal talk about the process of searching for God. Where does God live? And which kind of heart God lives in? In the first two verses of the sonnet, one of the most essential points which Iqbal trying to explain how man stumbles in trying to find the God. As I searching for God in everywhere because of my ignorance and I spent a very long time by doing this. At that time I was unaware of the secret to finding the God because my heart was full of darkness in which nothing was invisible. But this is the question for us; Is God existed in every heart? Which Iqbal beautifully explained that if the heart is get darkened with sins, then it is necessary to purify it first and it have to shine like a mirror. If we are want to find the God than firstly we should remove all the dirt from our heart which cases the reason of distance from Allah. These reasons are keeping envy in hearts and not treating well the God creature, which makes our heart dark and God can’t dwell in these types of hearts. And we got a moral lesson, we should serve the creature of God with kind heart than out heart will start to clean itself and God will begin to dwell in it. Iqbal explains this further by saying that it is important for human to identify themselves first. He said you have to find out the reason why God created you and when you are able to identify yourself than you will find the God successfully. Than Iqbal describes the beauty of prostration, there is so DE lightness in prostration which is given with humble. He mentioned the Hijr-e-Aswad, and said we are proud of ourselves for prostrating on it and if the stone felt our humility and out passion than it will start prostrating to God like our self. Therefore, we can say that a one prostrate that is given with sincerity and humility is better than a thousand prostrate that have been given with carelessly and with blank heart. Next Iqbal mentions here Majnu / Qays whom was fell in love with laila who use to wander in the jungles and mountains. These verses can be attributed to anyone who is in virtual or real love. And Iqbal mention the Qays and said you have hidden yourself as like laila I you came out from the veil and recognize and give value yourself than there will be large number of people who love you as you do same with laila. If such love is seen in the situation of bonding with God, if a human is devouring himself in search of it, than he should never forget that God love him thousand time more. In the last part of the sonnet Iqbal talk about the pain which he bear due to the distance from his love ones with beautiful example. When we meet our beloved, the months seem to turn into moments. And after the time of partition the moments seem to be turns into months and years. And this the extremist condition of the love which Iqbal prescribe here. Iqbal is saying with deep thoughts that if a person wants to drown him than it is difficult to stop him. It’s mean if someone fell in love than it is impossible for him to go back. Here sinking mean that losing in thoughts while remembering someone unconsciously. In last part Iqbal added “Iltajaye Arini” which refers to the incident when Hazrat Musa A.S made dua to Allah Almighty “Rabbi Arini Anzur Ilaik” O my Creator Bless me with your Divine Vision, I wish to see you .but Allah almighty replies you can’t endure it. Than the lightened struck on the mountain and Hazrat Musa (R.A) get fainted. The creator of this universe has hidden himself in the curtains of innumerable curtains because only it has beauty which is unmatchable and perfect. He doesn’t appear in front of human being in this world, but his attributes and qualities are evident in everything he creates. Allama Iqbal beautifully tells us the way how to enlighten the hearts. There is only thing that is cognition of Allah Almighty. And one should sit in the company of those live hearted people how know the art of enlightened the heart. Description by: Lucie Frank
