(12 Sep 1997) English/Nat U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has met Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat for the second time on Friday during her week long mission to the Middle East. The hour-long talks held in the West Bank town of Ramallah were described by both sides as "constructive." The signs have been positive for the Middle East peace process but it's been difficult to pinpoint any concrete progress. U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat met again on Friday in Ramallah in the West Bank. After one hour of discussions, they emerged encouraged but refused to shed any light on the focus of their latest talks. SOUNDBITE: (English) "We have had a good constructive meeting. I think we have, let me say, we've had a good constructive meeting and we'll have more for you later. We've had a good meeting. I'll have more for you later." SUPER CAPTION: Yasser Arafat, Palestinian leader With her visit to Ramallah, Albright wrapped up the main part of her visit. She acknowledged that her three days of shuttling between Israeli and Palestinian leaders had failed to end the seven-month crisis, saying there was still a long way to go before trust between the two sides could be restored. Later Friday, Albright was to leave for Syria to try and get Israeli-Syrian peace talks restarted after an 18-month freeze.
