Mohanlal, Kamal Hassan were considered before Rajinikanth in Endhiran

Even before shooting the Tamil Movie Boys Shankar planned a project 'Robot' with Kamal Hassan and Preity Zinta in the lead. But project shelved due to scheduling conflicts for Kamal Hassan. Years later he completed the movie with RajiniKanth in the lead and re-titled as 'Endhiran'. Another interesting factor is that Mohanlal was the first choice for Shankar even before he considered Kamal Hassan. During an interview with Club Fm, actor Suresh Gopi revealed that Superstar Mohanlal was Shankar's first choice for the lead role in 'Enthiran'.
