Newcastle explosion: boy, 7, dies after blast destroys house

A seven-year-old boy has died after an explosion at a house in Newcastle. READ MORE: https://www.thetimes.com/article/7c04... Six people were taken to hospital on Wednesday morning after the blast at Violet Close in the Benwell and Elswick area of the city shortly before 1am. The emergency services were sent to the address and firefighters used jets to soak the house, which was still smouldering. Specialist gas engineers were also deployed on the street.
