Southern Idaho evening weather: stretch of triple-digit days will continue through the month

The average high for Boise is 95° until August 1st, so we are into the hottest period of the summer. And if that's not hot enough, temperatures throughout the coming week will be 5-10° above that average temperature. Dry weather is also expected all week with sunny days and clear nights. However, smoke from wildfires here in Idaho, as well as adjacent states, will lead to occasional hazy skies or high patchy smoke, depending on the direction of the upper level winds. Another stretch of triple-digit days will start Tuesday. Look for valley lows in the low to mid 60's, followed by highs ranging from 99-104°. For those keeping track, Boise has recorded 9 days of 100°+ temps so far this summer. This stretch of very hot temperatures is likely to carry us into August, adding another 5-7 triple-digit days to the tally. High temperatures late in the week will be near record levels, with the hottest day expected to be Saturday. While the week looks likely to be dry, there are some hints in the long-range forecast models that we may have some monsoonal moisture moving into the region during the early days of August. This could trigger thunderstorms. We'll keep a close eye on this potential. Read more at: https://www.ktvb.com/article/weather/...
